Freelance Reporter

Central CT Roundup is seeking a freelance news reporter to generate story ideas, gather information, and produce and present stories and other content for all platforms and in a manner that is clear, relevant and meaningful to news consumers. Participate in special projects and perform other duties as assigned.

The freelance position is on-call as needed with fluctuating hours. Candidates must have a flexible schedule and be available to work various shifts with short notice at times.

  • Minimum of one year full-time professional news reporting experience preferred.
  • Exceptional news judgment.
  • Extensive knowledge of local and national current events, newsmakers, and issues.
  • Knowledge of libel laws and ethical foundations of journalism.
  • Ability to conduct in-depth research and pursue investigative stories effectively.
  • Excellent news writing ability for all platforms including social media.
  • Proficiency in current and emerging newsgathering and production technologies.
  • Extensive knowledge of news production techniques and demonstrated ability to develop engaging presentation.
  • Consistently enhances stories by providing insight and perspective.
  • Ability to think quickly and respond appropriately in high pressure situations.
  • Flexibility to work any assigned shift.

Commission Based Advertising Sales Associate

The Roundup is seeking Account Executives that have an in-depth knowledge of their local markets and competitive landscape. You’ll create and propose advertising solutions across all media, as well as meeting your existing clients’ needs. You will also assist with production planning; attend, participate in, and lead sales meetings; and act as a valued resource to your coworkers.

Additional responsibilities include handling client issues; and managing all financial aspects for your accounts. This role is best suited to a sales professional interested in learning more about our suite of advertising solutions and the development of our markets.

Experience within a sales-oriented setting is key, along with a keen interest in all types of media products (including online/interactive solutions) and the ability to stay current with, or even ahead of, new and emerging technologies. A high school diploma or the equivalent is required; a bachelor’s degree and related sales experience is preferred.

Part-time Social Media Assistant
