History At Play Founder, Judith Kalaora, will will portray America’s teacher in space at the Bristol Public Library, on Wednesday, August 7 @ 6:00 PM. to present “CHALLENGER: Soaring With Christa,” a tribute to teacher and astronaut Christa McAuliffe.
Ask anyone about Christa McAuliffe and they will tell you exactly where they were when the Challenger shuttle launched; however, few people understand who Mrs. McAuliffe really was.
America’s teacher in space was an educational pioneer and her goals and accomplishments are explored in this multi-media experience, which honors the 33rd anniversary of the Challenger launch.
Kalaora focuses on recent history in order to embody Christa McAuliffe, a Massachusetts native, and revives her legacy in this multi-media performance, suitable for all ages.
“CHALLENGER” begins with McAuliffe as a 15-year-old Girl Scout and moves through her life in stages – from her politically active college years during the late ’1960s to her time as an inner-city school teacher in Maryland and finally her months with NASA training to become the first teacher in space.
Using multimedia, news clips and recordings of McAuliffe underline the most iconic moments of her story.
