Dad’s, Grandads, come build a birdhouse with your child/grandchild using recycled materials.
Each birdhouse will be a one of a kind using materials supplied by the Barnes Memorial Nature Center.
Event goers will also turn otherwise scraps into a unique useable birdhouse for your backyard!
Why recycled, you ask? Because you will also contribute to the health of the environment and teach your kids a thing or two about sustainability and recycle different materials.
Making birdhouses is a fun activity to do with the kids, especially if you have a nice garden you want to see filled with color, life, scent, and chirping. Entertaining birds in your garden is healthy for the garden and the environment.
The little critters feed on garden pests and add to the creation of the micro-ecosystem in your backyard. It is important for them to feel like home and stay protected from the elements.
Therefore, without further ado, let us see how to make a birdhouse this summer and the cute projects you can enjoy with Dad!

South Dakota doesn’t get a lot of tornadoes, but a twister there last weekend was particularly rare — because it was spinning clockwise. The National Weather Service says the anticyclonic tornado only lasted for about 45 seconds on June 15. That was long enough for it to knock down seven trees at a farmstead outside of Estelline, which is about 80 miles north of Sioux Falls. Only about 1% of tornadoes that hit the Northern Hemisphere rotate in a clockwise […]
