Burlington Public Library
Children’s Program

Children up to grade 4 will receive a reading calendar when they sign up. For each day that they read, they will receive one library “Book Buck.” Use the bucks throughout the summer to shop our summer reading store and pick the prizes you want to win!
Tween-to-Teen Program
Students in grades 5-12 will earn a raffle ticket for each book that they read. They can also earn raffle tickets for attending a program or for volunteering at library events.
Adult Program
Adults will have a chance to win a $50 VISA gift card this summer. They will earn one raffle ticket for each day that they check out adult materials or for each adult summer reading activity that they attend.

Understanding Trusts with Attorney Jeff Rivard

Join Attorney Jeff Rivard as he presents: Understanding Trusts: do you need one?
What exactly is a trust and what can a trust do for you? You’ve heard about the different types – Revocable, Irrevocable, Special Needs, Discretionary, Testamentary and Tax trusts. In this program, we’ll demystify trusts and explain how a trust could be suitable for you and why. You’ll walk away knowing how to use trusts to do things like; minimize or avoid taxes, protect assets from potential ex-spouses and creditors, keep public benefits for loved ones, provide for a beneficiary who is disabled or has special needs and how to avoid probate court. Whether you are new to trusts, or even understand them well, you’ll walk away understanding how to use these powerful planning tools to your advantage.

Estate Planning 101 with Attorney Brendan Daly

Join Attorney Brendan Daly for Estate Planning 101.
Everyone, both young and old, needs an estate plan. Your life circumstances can change in an instant! If they do, are you prepared? Do you want to be on life support? Who will pay your bills if you can’t? And if you pass away, how will your estate be divided among your heirs? If you don’t have a plan in place, the State of Connecticut will make some of these decisions for you – would you want that to happen?
In this program, you’ll learn about important estate planning documents like Powers of Attorney and Healthcare Directives that you can create to make sure your wishes are met and your family knows how to care for you when you can’t care for yourself.

Donuts with Dad

Please join us on Saturday, June 15th at 11 AM for Donuts with Dad (or any other special male in your life). Enjoy donuts and drinks while we listen to some stories. A Father’s Day craft and activity will follow. Children of all ages are welcome

Summer Reading Kickoff with Critter Caravan

Kick off the summer at the Burlington Library with a community picnic @ 5:30. Hot dogs will be provided and cooked by the Burlington Lions Club.  Beverages will be provided by the library. Please consider bringing a side dish or dessert to share with your friends! After the picnic will be an animal presentation by Critter Caravan at 6:30.  Enjoy the chance to pet small animals such as chinchillas, rabbits, hedgehogs, guinea pigs, lizards, tortoises, and snakes will be visiting. All ages are welcome.

CT Astrological Society

The Burlington Public Library is pleased to welcome Agneta Borstein of the CT Astrological Society for Our Intimate Connection to the Moon. Agneta is a professional astrologer, workshop facilitator, teacher and current president of The Astrological Society of Connecticut. She is also the author of The Moon’s Nodes: Understanding the Dynamic Ties that Bind.
Agneta will guide us through an exploration of the moon and why we are both conscious, unconscious and beyond connected to its rhythm and allow us to understand how our connection to the moon affects our emotions.
Bring your birth information (date, time and place) and Agneta will help you find your natal Moon sign!
