Bristol Hospital Seeks Local Artists for New Downtown Building

New Bristol Hospital building on Riverside Ave. and Main Street looking North

Bristol Health is looking for local artists to help decorate the interior of the new downtown medical building on Main Street.

“We are calling artists to submit their proposals and ideas for artwork that will go in the new Medical Care Center waiting and patient areas.”

The hospital has identified 8-10 public areas for artwork, and 20+ patient areas, including hallways and patient rooms that will accommodate smaller-scale art.

Once complete, the 60,000-square-foot, three-story building, will house numerous sub-specialties of the Bristol Hospital Multi-Specialty Group as well as dedicated space for laboratory, and physical and occupational therapy services.

The Center has two main entrances; one that faces the south for walk-up traffic, and a second main entrance on the back side of the building that faces north and a larger parking area.

Kurt A. Barwis, FACHE, president and CEO of Bristol Hospital and Health Care Group said “This beautiful new facility will enhance the brand of the Bristol Hospital Multi-Specialty Group and provide improved community access to our services. This project was the vision of our Board of Directors who early on, saw this as a win-win for Bristol Hospital, downtown Bristol and all the residents within our service area.”

The new building is set to open up later this Month.

For those interested in the artwork project can email Tiffany Morrissey at tmorrissey@bristolhospital.org and Dagmara Scalise at dscalise@bristolhospital.org to receive more details and a request for proposal.
