For Goodness Sake, a local 501(c)(3) nonprofit that provides donated furniture and household goods to individuals and families transitioning to independent living, will have its 5th annual fundraising dinner, A Plate at the Table, on Thursday, May 16, at The Aqua Turf’s Wagon Room in Plantsville, from 6 to 9 pm.
The event will feature live music from the popular band, All Washed Up, a silent auction, many exciting raffle prizes, and of course, great food and a cash bar. Tickets are $50 per person and can be purchased online at the For Goodness Sake website (www.forgoodnessake.org). No tickets will be sold at the door, so plan on getting them soon. The deadline for purchasing tickets is May 8.
For Goodness Sake’s mission is to restore dignity and independence to people struggling with homelessness, poverty, and other severe life challenges by providing them with the furniture and basic household goods they need to make their house into a home.
For Goodness Sake is a 100% volunteer-run furniture bank, partnering with over 40 local organizations to reach people throughout central Connecticut.
For Goodness Sake has helped nearly 1,000 clients since it was founded in 2013. Clients include people moving into their first apartment from being on the streets, families moving out of homeless shelters, victims of domestic violence, homeless veterans, and people that are homeless and in need of support for a variety of other reasons.

PARIS – A French centenarian is suspected of strangling and bludgeoning her 92-year-old neighbor to death. The 102-year-old woman, who has been transferred to a psychiatric hospital, allegedly told a staff member at the retirement home where the two lived that she had “killed someone,” according to the BBC.
