Ameen Mukdad, a violinist from Mosul who lived under ISIS’s rule for two and a half years where they destroyed his musical instruments, performs at Nabi Yunus shrine in eastern Mosul, Iraq, April 19, 2017.

Ameen Mokdad defied ISIS by playing and composing music in his hometown of Mosul, Iraq during its years of occupation.

Now Ameen Mokdad comes to the USA for the first time to perform and record his own compositions with the resident musicians of Cuatro Puntos.

Mokdad performs on a variety of instruments including violin, cello, various arabic percussion, and the adad, an instrument of his own creation.

He will be joined by the string quartet in residence with Cuatro Puntos.
