In 1979, young Donna, Tanya and Rosie graduate from Oxford University – leaving Donna free to embark on a series of adventures throughout Europe. On her journeys, she makes the acquaintances of Harry, Bill and Sam – the latter whom she falls in love with only to have him break her heart. In the present day, Donna’s pregnant daughter, Sophie, dreams of renovating Donna’s hotel while reuniting with her mother’s old friends and boyfriends on the Greek Island of Kalokairi.

“Friends of the Library” Book Sale

Join us for our annual “Friends of the Library” book sale. Browse a variety of books, and other materials, for all ages. All proceeds go towards Library programs and materials.

Great Burlington Baking Club
Wednesday, November 14 at 6 PM
Inspired by the hit TV show, The Great British Bake Off, the Burlington Library now offers a monthly program for all the home bakers out there. Simply bake a recipe that meets the theme of the month and bring your dish for others to sample. We’ll review the recipes we used and compile a list to share with one another. (*Remember to bring a spare container home so you can bring some samples of the other bakes home!).
Our challenge for November is to bake a layered dessert.

Toddler Story Time
Ages: 2 years (with caregiver)
Thursdays at 10:15 AM
Join us for some story time fun!
Each week will feature a different theme of stories, songs and flannel board activities for 2 year-olds and their caregivers. We will finish each session with a make-and-take craft.
Registration required. Please sign up just the child who will be participating.
Preschool Story Time
Ages: 3-5 years (with caregiver)
Thursdays at 11:15 AM
Join us for some story time fun!

Each week will feature a different theme of stories, songs and flannel board activities for 3-5 year-olds and their caregivers. We will finish each session with a make-and-take craft.
Registration required. Please sign up just the child who will be participating.

Newbies Story Time
Ages: Birth to 12 months (with caregiver)
Fridays at 11 AM

Join us for a story time for children ages birth to 12 months and their caregivers.
Each week will feature stories, songs, finger plays and rhymes. We will also end each session with interactive play with age-appropriate toys.
Please register just the child who will be attending.

From visionary filmmaker, Spike Lee, comes the incredible true story of an American hero. It’s the early 1970’s and Ron Stallworth (John David Washington) is the first African-American detective to serve in the Colorado Springs Police Department. Determined to make a name for himself, Stallworth bravely sets out on a dangerous mission: infiltrate and expose the Ku Klux Klan. The young detective soon recruits a more seasoned colleague, Flip Zimmerman (Adam Driver), into the undercover investigation of a lifetime. Together, they team up to take down the extremist hate group as the organization aims to sanitize its violent rhetoric to appeal to the mainstream.

Foodies – Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough Sandwiches

Make edible, egg-free cookie dough from scratch to put between chocolate chip cookies that we will bake here using pre-fab Nestle’s cookie dough for a classic afternoon snack.

One-Dish Wonder Casserole Sale
Saturday, November 17 at 10 AM

Treat yourself and your family to a home cooked casserole that you didn’t have to cook! On November 17, the Burlington Library Association will be hosting its very popular “One-Dish Wonder Casserole Sale.” The casserole sale features a wide variety of dishes such as: stew, chili, pasta-based dishes, vegetarian meals, vegetable-based dishes, chowders, gluten-free meals and more. The sale starts at 10 AM and goes until all the dishes are sold out. Last year, all the dishes sold out quickly so be sure to get here early!

What Would Reese Read Book Club
Wednesday, November 28 at 6 PM
Join us for our evening book club where we discuss books featured in Reese Witherspoon’s book club, Hello Sunshine.
This month, we will be discussing the psychological thriller The Last Mrs. Parrish by Liv Constantine.

Beer Talk and Sampling with the Beer Snob
Thursday, November 29 at 6 PM
 
Join us for a lively discussion with Will Siss aka the Beer Snob. Will will be discussing his book Connecticut Beer which focuses on beer history and the current local brewery scene. After the discussion, three different types of beer will be available for sampling with Will as he teaches the audience about the style of the beer and how to drink like a “beer snob.”
Copies of Will’s book will also be available for purchase.
This event is for patrons 21 and older. Registration required.
