Tavern Day is Burlington’s annual community celebration that brings the sprawling geographic community together each September at the Town Green.
2018 proved to be another success.
This year’s event offered beer & wine at the tavern, a food court, food trucks, farmers market, ice cream & cake, kids fun zone, historical reenactors, a town crier, Hurdy-Gurdy and Punch & Judy Show, mime, live music, community groups exhibits, Business expo, and the Lewis S. Mills High School Marching Band.
The Congregational Church of Burlington is also an active participant each year by operating a food tent and informational booth to share who they are with the community.
“It’s a very good fundraiser for the church and the saying “many hands lighten the load” is so true for this event. Many people in the past have helped make this day fun and successful so any little bit you can donate or volunteer for will make a difference in helping our Church achieve our goals.”
Performing Musician Adelaide Punkin posted “Such a cool day in Burlington! Tavern Day rocked! Sunshine and music all day. I want to thank Ted Shafer and Tod Kallenbach for inviting me and helping me get set up in a sweet shady spot. The Friends of the Burlington Library were the best neighbors too. Everyone was so encouraging and supportive. One of the best gigs this year!”
Ted Shafer First Selectman posted some photos and stated “Hope everyone enjoyed today’s annual Burlington Tavern Day Celebration. We had nice warm weather and an estimated attendance of 1800. Special thanks to all the volunteers, sponsors, participants, vendors, community groups, Region 10 sports teams & clubs, entertainers, public safety and town employees.”
Joseph Meusel of Burlington posted photos online and said “I just came from Tavern Day in Burlington CT. It was nice to see the history of the town. Here are some pictures from it.”
Rebekah Schilling posted it was “Another successful Tavern Day in the books!”
“Thank you as ever to the Tavern Day committee for all your support; to Firefly Hollow Brewing for the fantastic beer, and to all our volunteers. Y’all rock. See you next time.”
