The rumor on the street — or social media now — is that La Famiglia Deli will reopen in the former Downtown Cafe located at 188 Main Street on the corner of Memorial Boulevard and School Street.
The once popular downtown bar abruptly shut down in 2015 and the space remained vacant since then.
Prior to its closure, Downtown Cafe held the title of Bristol’s oldest operating bar/cafe.
La Familia Deli was a Bristol staple as well. It closed its Rt. 6 location half a decade ago.
The Deli was known for huge grinders and thier famous meatballs.
If the rumor is true, it appears Main Street is having its resurrection.
Most recently, Main Street Pint & Plate opened up in the old Barley Vine restaurant and pub.
With the construction of a new Bristol Hospital medical facility that will bring thousands to Main Street, it seems business-oriented individuals see the possibilities.
Will it happen?
Will it work?
Will you go?
