Acquired by Walgreens in a national $4.37 billion purchase of 1,932 Rite Aid stores in October, the Bristol Rite Aid Pharmacy located at North Side Square will close soon. The store will close toward the end of the next month or sooner.
The store is currently liquidating all of its merchandise. Savvy shoppers take note!
Effectively immediately, all prescriptions and records on file with that Rite Aid will automatically be transferred to the Walgreens’ on Main Sreeet a Walgreens company spokesman said.
Prescriptions also may be filled at other Walgreens pharmacies.
A Walgreens spokesman said Bristol Rite Aid employees were given notice of the closing in early May.
They said the company is making “every effort” to help relocate employees, either to the local Walgreens or to other nearby stores.
In making such decisions, the company’s goal is to “ensure that the right number of stores are at the right locations to ensure the greatest value for our customers.”
The Bristol Rite Aid once served as an anchor at the North Side Square shopping center since the late 80’s.
In addition to Rite Aid and Walgreens, Bristol also is home to a CVS Pharmacy, a Walmart pharmacy, a Beacon store pharmacy among others.
