politcalad1BRISTOL — Police say a routine traffic stop lead to the arrest of two convicted felons.

On Wednesday evening an officer stopped a car for a stop sign violation on Maltby Street by Stafford Ave.

The vehicle was operated by Jayson Bruno,31, of 90 Boardman Street in Bristol.

Further investigation by the officer found Bruno to be in possession of illegal drugs, including Crack/Cocaine.

A passenger in the vehicle was arrested when the officer discovered an outstanding arrest warrant stemming from a domestic violence incident in November of 2010.

Rafael Rivera, 37, of Bristol, was arrested and charged with Assault in the Third Degree, Sexual Assault in a Cohabitating Relationship and Breach of Peace in the Second Degree.

Rivera was held pending his court date Thursday morning at Bristol Superior Court on a $150,000 bond.

Bruno was charged with Failure to Obey Stop Sign, Bruno was charged with Illegal Possession of Narcotics and Possession of Less Than a Half-Ounce of Marijuana.

Bruno was released, pending a October 27th.  court date Bristol Superior Court, when he posted the $25,000 bond.
